The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 6 pm, at Tese alle Nappe. During the evening the six overall winners will be announced and the special prizes will be awarded: 180,000 euro is the total amount of the prizes awarded. The overall winners – one for each category in the competition: painting, sculpture and installation, photographic art, video art and performance, virtual art, land art – will win a cash prize of 7,000 euro each; one of these awards will be directly assigned by Thetis SpA, the company operating in the field of environmental engineering with which the Prize has designed and created the new contest section dedicated to Land Art. The finalists exhibition also includes a special venue at the Telecom Italia Future Centre, in the heart of Venice, which for three years now has housed the works of virtual and digital art, namely the ones that are most closely related to the use of new technologies; it will be possible to learn more about them during the guided tour scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd.Among the special awards there are a number of prestigious international partnerships and interesting connections with companies from the three sectors of excellence of the Italian production – fashion, wine and design: “Business for art”: the network of Arte Laguna reconfirms the presence of Riva 1920, a historic furniture company based in Cantù, which reuses Venetian “briccole” to create the object designed by an artist. Then there is the Farm La Tordera from Valdobbiadene, a wine producer since the fifties, which will award 5 thousand euro to an artistic label for a limited-edition line of prosecco, and Pas de Rouge, which will give a prize of 10 thousand euro to the most attractive creative proposal inspired by the world of footwear and the slogan “the Soft Appeal” that accompanies its products. “Artist in Residence”: seven artists will be able to live a creative experience outside the artist’s studio thanks to the collaboration with: Artistic Serigraphy Fallani in Venice, Glass School Abate Zanetti in Murano, Slovenian Art Stays festival, Artistic Foundry Battaglia in Milan and Basu Foundation from Kolkata in India. “Personal exhibitions in gallery”: the cooperation formula with international galleries called “Artist in gallery” continues. Each gallery will select an artist for a solo exhibition including setting-up, opening, and a dedicated catalog published by ODE (On Demand Editions). The spaces are Charlot Gallery in Paris, Fernando Santos Gallery in Portugal, Isabelle Lesmeister Gallery in Germany and Gallery Exhibit 320 in India. “Special collaborations”: for the past four years, the Prize has been collaborating with Open from Venice, the outdoor Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations realized by Arte Communications which will choose an artist and his/her installation for the exhibition to be held in San Servolo next September. For the second year, instead, the ten finalist videos in the Prize will fly to Beijing for an exhibition at the event organized by Art Nova 100, one of the emerging realities for the promotion of young contemporary art in the East. Arte Laguna Prize, which was awarded the medal of recognition from the President of the Italian Republic, is organized with the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Veneto Region, the European Institute of Design, IUAV and Ca’ Foscari University.
